Why Does the Glass Swing Turnstile Fit So Many Premium Indoor Entrances

An indoor entrance has to do two things at once that often pull against each other. It has to control who comes in, which means a physical barrier that stays locked until a credential is read. It also has to fit the architecture of the space, which means the gate itself should not look like a piece of industrial equipment. Most access control products pick one side of that trade-off. The ZOJE B202 glass swing turnstile is designed to do both, and that is why it shows up in office lobbies, bank entrances, and hotel reception areas.

The door is the feature that makes this work. A transparent glass panel lets people see through the passage even when the gate is closed, so the entrance does not feel like a wall or a checkpoint. When the door swings shut, it still blocks entry physically, so the access control function is not compromised. Building owners who need the gate to be present but not imposing tend to choose this type of door over a solid panel.

The black tempered glass top on the cabinet adds a second layer of finish. At ZOJE, we specify it as standard because it hides the reader mounting points and the wiring under a smooth dark surface, which gives the unit a cleaner, more modern look than a fully stainless top. If a project calls for the stainless top instead, it is a standard change rather than a custom order. This combination of transparent door and dark top is what gives the swing turnstile its finished appearance.

The swing turnstile cabinet is built from brushed 304 stainless steel, with 316 stainless steel available for coastal or industrial environments. The finish is designed to hold up to daily cleaning inside a lobby, and the unit measures roughly 1400 millimeters long by 1000 millimeters high, with a depth that depends on the configuration. The standard channel width is 600 millimeters, and it can be widened to 900 millimeters for wheelchair users and people with luggage.

The drive is a brush motor as standard, with brushless and servo options for quieter operation and longer service life. Unlock takes 0.2 seconds, and the unit handles 35 people per minute per lane. The mechanical structure is designed in-house and paired with a motor that ZOJE specifies for long-term duty, which means the gate keeps its timing and position over years of use rather than drifting out of adjustment.

Because a swing turnstile moves a door across a passage, the safety design matters. High-sensitivity optical sensors detect a person approaching the lane, and a mechanical anti-pinch function backs them up, so the door does not close on someone. Anti-clamping protection is built into the control. In an emergency, the door opens automatically for free egress, which is a standard building-code requirement. The unit also has automatic reset, so a person who enters and does not pass through leaves the lane ready for the next user. It runs on standard AC power, operates from a wide temperature range, and carries an IP rating that covers indoor and outdoor use. Direction can be single or bidirectional, and each lane can be matched to the traffic flow of the building.

A swing turnstile does not work alone. The B202 uses a standard external interface that accepts ID cards, IC cards, EM cards, fingerprint readers, face recognition terminals, QR code scanners, and ESD readers. It communicates over RS485 or TCP/IP, so it drops into a networked access control setup without a proprietary protocol. The building's existing CCTV system and building management software can also trigger the gate and log every passage, which turns the hardware into a working part of the site's security system rather than a standalone device. This is why the swing turnstile fits so many different indoor entrances: an office building pairs it with face recognition terminals, a bank pairs it with card readers, and a hotel pairs it with the staff access system. The gate itself does not change; the reader on top changes to match the project.

Every swing turnstile that leaves the ZOJE workshop goes through a continuous run test before packaging. The motor opens and closes the door through a large number of cycles while speed, noise, and door alignment are checked. The optical sensors are tested against different walking speeds, and the anti-pinch and fail-safe functions are triggered on purpose to confirm they work. Only units that pass these checks get wrapped for shipment. The product carries a two-year warranty, and ZOJE keeps spare parts in stock for units that are years out of service. For a building that runs its entrance from early morning until late at night, having parts available matters because a lane sitting idle waiting for a component is a lane the building cannot use.

Customization is available across the range. The channel width can be widened for wheelchair access. The door material is acrylic as standard, with tempered glass as an option. The drive can be a brush motor, a brushless motor, or a servo motor depending on the noise level and service life the project requires. The cabinet finish and the top material can be matched to the interior design of the building. ZOJE accepts OEM and ODM orders, so a project that needs a specific configuration can get it without a long engineering cycle.

The glass swing turnstile is the right product when three conditions meet: the entrance is indoor or semi-indoor, the building wants the gate to look like part of the interior rather than industrial equipment, and the traffic level calls for a door that moves faster than a tripod but is not a full-height barrier. It is not the answer for a perimeter site that needs to stop a determined climber. For that, a full-height turnstile is the correct choice. It is also not the answer for a site that needs the widest possible passage for machinery, where a gate with a custom channel is a better fit. For the mainstream indoor entrance, the swing turnstile balances all three: it controls access, it looks finished, and it keeps people moving at a practical pace.

If you are planning an entrance for an office building, a bank, a hotel, or a similar facility, ZOJE's sales team can help you work out the configuration. We can advise on the channel width, the drive type, the reader integration, and the cabinet finish that matches your building. We can also arrange a sample unit or reference installations before you commit to a larger order.
